While dan busts his arse on some SSB lunges Liam sucks in the big ones haha
A tip when performing a walking lunge variation is to allow your chest to be slightly angled toward to ground almost coming in contact with the lead quad... conventionally we are taught to be very upright but because of the momentum of the load traveling forward this will cause some extension through the back decreasing glute activation and much more stress on the knee.
let the chest go with the natural path of the bar keeping a strong alignment of the rib cage and pelvis and allowing glutes to get a solid hip extension on take off.
Some other tools to use when performing a walking a lunge and variations.
Barbell lunge, Barbell Front Lunge, KB Lunge, KB Overhead Lunge, KB Rack Position Lunge, DB Lunge, Cambered Bar Lunge, DeadBall Lunge, MedBall Lunge (close hold or extended hold)
A small shift in where you perceptually place your focus while performing the lunge will determine its SUCCESS OR NOT.
Breathe deep into the hip before heel strike, reverse the movement with volition, take a decent stride and get uncomfortable.
